These capsules are one of a group of medicines called 'laxatives'.
They are usually used to prevent and treat constipation that has lasted for a long time.
These capsules may also be used to help you go to the toilet if you have piles (haemorrhoids), or to empty your bowels before a stomach X-ray.
Ask your doctor if you want more information.
Children under 12 years of age.
People with nausea, vomiting or persistant abdominal pain.
People with a blockage in the gut (intestinal obstruction).
Rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance (Dioctyl capsules contain fructose and sorbitol).
You should carefully read all product packaging and labels prior to use.
Taking your medicine
– Read the instructions on the label
about how to take your medicine.
If
you are not sure about anything, ask
your pharmacist.
– The usual dose for adults is up to five
capsules a day taken in divided doses.
– Reduce the dose as your condition
gets better.
– When using this medicine before
having a stomach X-ray, you should
take four capsules.
– Swallow these capsules whole with a
drink of water.
– If you accidentally take an overdose,
drink lots of water and contact your
nearest accident and emergency
department, or tell your doctor
immediately.
