B Vitamins: More Information
The B Vitamins are a collection of essential nutrients that are water soluble and are commonly found in food sources such as Brewer's Yeast, Meat, Whole grains, Cereals, Bananas, Beans and Vegetable Proteins. B Vitamins include B1 (Thiamine), B2 (Riboflavin), B3 (Niacin), B5 (Pantothenic Acid), B6 (Pyridoxine), B7 (Biotin), B9 (Folic Acid) and Vitamin B12 (Cobalamin).
The B Vitamin group is essential as it helps maintain the release of energy and increase the rate of metabolism. Vitamin B also helps maintain the health of your skin, hair, eyes, mouth and improves the immune system and the nervous system. A regular intake of Vitamin B also ensures production of red blood cells which in turn would help prevent conditions such as anaemia. Most of the B vitamins should be regularly replenished as any excess is excreted through urine.
Vitamin B deficiency may lead to cracked lips, dermatitis, insomnia, anaemia, mouth ulcers and water retention.
